Gyrocopter Incident 12.11.2020

We regret to announce there was a Gyrocopter incident on Thursday 12th November that involved an aircraft operated by Highland Aviation.

We are all devastated by the loss of our friend, and our deepest sympathies goes out to the pilot's family and friends.

We are assisting local Police and AAIB as they investigate this tragic loss.

The Flying School is currently closed and will reopen on Monday 16th November.

We would ask everyone to respect our privacy, and that of the pilot's family at this time.

  • Having being a previous customer of Highland Aviation, I was very saddened to hear the news of the accident reported in the press. Sadly, I am not in a financial position to fly just now, but having gained my Private Pilots Licence many years ago, and having flown many hours in ‘LAZL’, I feel the need to contribute here. Flying is a wonderful thing, and for people like me and many members of Highland Aviation, it is such a privilege to take to the skies, no words can describe the rush. I was very sad to hear the news of the accident. I did not know the pilot, but irrespective, he no doubt was a total fan of aviation. It is very sad to read of his untimely passing, especially whilst flying, a pastime which would have given him a lot of fun. I feel for his family, and for staff and members of Highland Aviation, this is a very difficult time. Phil
