Soft/Short Field Operations Courses
Short-Field Introduction
The Short-Field Operations Course is designed for qualified low-hour pilots who want to challenge themselves and enhance their existing piloting skills. Pilots are taught how to accurately execute a performance take-off and landing in different conditions.
The course includes one hour of theoretical knowledge instruction and three hours of flight training, which takes places at Inverness with the option of completing part of the training at Longside.
This course is available throughout the year and can be undertaken using any of our fixed-wing fleet.
Soft-Field Introduction
The Soft-Field Operations Course is the perfect introduction to grass strips for newly qualified or inexperienced pilots. Pilots are taught the correct technique for taking off and landing on grass and, by the end of the course, should have the confidence to expand the list of airfields in the local area they are comfortable flying to. The course includes one hour of theoretical knowledge instruction and three hours of flight training. The initial phase will be completed at Inverness, with the majority of training being conducted at Dornoch or Easter airfield.
This course is seasonal and available from 01 April until 01 September. It can be undertaken using any of our fixed-wing fleet.
